Business Management

As you progress, you can select modules that particularly interest you, or opt for a specialist degree route (eg Analytics, Digital Marketing, Finance or Human Resource Management).

Business Management with Analytics

How do businesses generate meaningful reports for other stakeholders and make decisions? What are the different tools we can use to analyse information? Our BA (Hons) in Business Management with Analytics will help you to develop a specialised understanding of analytical methods and utilise software packages to support key business decisions alongside core business management skills.

Business Management with Digital Marketing

Film and Media

International Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management

This BA/BA (Hons) in International Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management course will provide you with the business management skills that the best employers in international hospitality, tourism and events are looking for.

The hospitality, tourism and events sector is a significant contributor to the Scottish economy and supports a substantial number of enterprises.聽 Events are key features within hospitality and tourism, and during your course you will plan, deliver and execute a live event to put theory into practice in a creative way. You will also complete a 20-week internship that will boost your employability.

Media and Communications (Year 2 entry only)

Our Media and Communications course will engage you in creative, collaborative and professional ways of thinking, researching and working.

Master of Nursing (MNurse)

This four-year undergraduate master鈥檚 course will prepare you with the knowledge, skills and leadership qualities for a successful and rewarding career in nursing. On completion you will be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a registered nurse.

Nursing

The four-year BSc (Hons) in Nursing course will prepare you with the knowledge, skills and leadership qualities for a successful and rewarding career in nursing. On completion you will be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a registered adult nurse.

Nutrition

This four-year course will give you the theoretical understanding and practical skills that you will need to build a rewarding career as a nutritionist.

You will learn the scientific and social importance of nutrition in a modern and forward looking university with excellent specialist facilities and equipment. Integrated real-world experiences, including a work-based placement module will foster your practical skills.

Performance (Year 3 entry only)

Focusing on practice, this two-year BA (Hons) in Performance course offers you the knowledge and skills to make innovative, relevant and engaging new work for contemporary audiences and communities. It is an 鈥榓rticulation route鈥 for students who have already achieved an HND in Acting and Performance.

PGDE Secondary (Business Education)

Are you are a graduate in a degree related to accounting, economics or business management? Are you looking for an inspiring, challenging and socially empowering career?

Our new one-year PGDE Secondary (Business Education) course will prepare you to teach business education in Scottish secondary schools and beyond, providing you with an internationally recognised secondary teaching qualification.

PGDE Secondary (Home Economics)

Are you looking for a change of career? Why not consider becoming a Home Economics teacher in a secondary school? If you are a health sciences, hospitality, food or science-related graduate this course is the first step to a new inspiring, challenging and socially empowering career.

Our one-year PGDE in Home Economics course will prepare you to teach home economics in Scottish secondary schools and beyond, providing you with an internationally recognised secondary teaching qualification.

PGDE Secondary (Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies)

Are you are a graduate in a related degree to religious studies, philosophy, theology, divinity, sociology of religion, anthropology of religion or psychology of religion? Are you looking for an inspiring, challenging and socially empowering career?

Our new one-year PGDE Secondary (Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies) course will prepare you to teach religious, moral and philosophical Studies in Scottish secondary schools and beyond, providing you with an internationally recognised secondary teaching qualification.

Podiatry

As a podiatrist you will be a healthcare professional who has been trained to diagnose and treat abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs. Podiatrists work with their patients to prevent and correct deformity, keeping people mobile and active, and helping to relieve pain. Podiatrists work with people of all ages, and your patients will count on you to support and help them with a broad range of mobility and medical conditions of the foot and lower limbs.

This four-year undergraduate Master of Podiatry/BSc (Hons) Podiatry course will provide you with the theoretical understanding and practical skills that you will need to build your flexible and rewarding career as a podiatrist in the NHS or private sector. You will learn advanced practical skills on placement to allow you to develop your podiatric skills as you progress through the course.

Psychology

Why do humans think, feel and behave the way we do? As a psychology student you will find answers to some of the most fundamental and fascinating of questions.

On this British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited course you will learn the skills and the analytical abilities that employers in a range of careers are looking for.

You will learn across six core areas of psychology (cognitive, biological, historical, developmental, social and individual differences) and gain extensive practical training in research methods. You can focus on a particular area of interest through our module choices.

Psychology and Sociology

Who are we, and how do we shape our world?

On this course you will explore the nature of the individual and society. You will learn the critical thinking skills that discerning employers are looking for in a variety of fields including business, health, media, education, social care and management.

Studying psychology and sociology will allow you to explore a large and fascinating world, the fundamental nature of human beings and how that nature shapes our social environment.

Associate Degree - Psychology and Sociology

Are you fascinated by human nature, by who we are and how we interact? Do you want to understand what impacts the shape of society around us and how it could be changed for the better? If so, you will enjoy our BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Sociology: it provides a challenging and stimulating environment for exploring these questions around the individual and society.

You can study this course as an associate student, completing the first year at Newbattle Abbey College or West Lothian College.

Public Relations and Marketing Communications (Year 2 entry only)

Public Sociology

You will embrace new ideas and schools of thought on this intellectually stimulating and personally empowering BSc (Hons) Public Sociology course. It encourages rigorous critical thinking on complex and challenging social issues, opening the door to a wide range of careers.

If you have an enquiring, questioning mind and you want to understand more about human societies, social problems, interactions and experiences, you will thrive on this course.

It is Scotland鈥檚 first public sociology course and we continue to be pioneering in the way we think. Our students have chosen fascinating and original topics to research for their dissertations, from women鈥檚 body image on social media to a community campaign on gentrification.

Radiography: Therapeutic

This four-year undergraduate Master of Radiography: Therapeutic/BSc (Hons) Radiography: Therapeutic degree course will give you the theoretical understanding and practical skills you will need to build a rewarding career as a therapeutic radiographer. Practice placements are an integrated part of the course and allow you to put your theoretical knowledge into practice.

Theatre and Film

If you love theatre and film you can study them both in depth on the only course of its kind in Scotland. The course combines practical work-based learning with a solid grounding in critical studies.

You will learn about the histories of theatre and cinema, and examine the key critical cultural and political debates. You will explore the spaces of the stage and studio, stage and screen performances and the genres, narratives and authorship of plays and screenplays. We study the economics and management of theatre and cinema within the creative industries.

Alongside the course鈥檚 academic core you will have plenty of opportunity to gain production experience from Year One, and can specialise in practice areas in later years.
